Civil activist Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraei released after serving sentence

Civil activist Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraei was released from Evin Prison after completing her sentence and on bail pending the hearing of a new case.

Maryam Karim Beigi, the sister of Mostafa Karim Beigi, announced the news of Golrokh Ebrahimi's release from prison on her Twitter account on Monday, April 9.

According to available information, Ms. Iraei has been released from prison on bail of 60 million Tomans due to another case that was opened against her while she was in prison.

Golrokh Ebrahimi, the wife of Arash Sadeghi, was sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of writing an unpublished story in which she condemned the punishment of stoning.

Last year, the Vice President of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom issued a statement announcing that it had added Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraei's name to the list of "Religious Prisoners of Conscience Project."

The United States has repeatedly protested and condemned widespread human rights violations in Iran in recent years.
