14 Iranian Military Personnel Abducted at Mirjaveh Border

Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, reported on Tuesday, October 15, that 14 Iranian military personnel were “abducted” by “a terrorist group,” according to an informed source.
Earlier, the Young Journalists Club had reported in a post later deleted that “Basij security plan forces and Mirjaveh border guards… were abducted by members of the Jeish al-Zulm terrorist group.” The post was subsequently removed.
Some Iranian media outlets, following certain Islamic Republic officials, refer to the Jeish al-Adl group as “Jeish al-Zulm.”
The Islamic Republic classifies this group as a terrorist organization.
No official Iranian government spokesperson has commented on the matter so far.
According to the Young Journalists Club report: “Seven of these individuals are Basij security plan forces, five are Mirjaveh border guard personnel, and two are Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence forces who were abducted between 4 and 5 a.m. today [Tuesday] in the Lolakdan zero-point border area.”
Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, published this report without providing additional details.
The Lolakdan zero-point border area is part of the Rigmelk district of Mirjaveh city and is located about 50 kilometers from the city of Mirjaveh.
This border region in Sistan and Baluchestan Province has been the site of numerous clashes between the Jeish al-Adl group and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for some time.
Less than three months ago, reports emerged that two “security plan” Basij forces in the Kurin Zahedan area were killed in clashes with armed individuals.
In early July of this year, the Revolutionary Guard Corps reported the deaths of three of its personnel and three attackers in a clash. However, the Jeish al-Adl group announced that “11 Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel” were killed in this clash, while its own forces suffered no casualties.
The Jeish al-Adl group, which has repeatedly clashed with Iran’s security forces in this province, has taken some hostage or killed them. The group presents itself as a defender of “Sunni” interests in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
