164 Scientists Worldwide Speak Out for Freedom of Ahmad Reza Jalali

164 scientists from around the world have joined a 24-hour academic marathon on YouTube to save Ahmad Reza Jalali, a researcher detained in Iran.
Among the renowned scientists is Sir Richard Roberts, winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine, who previously collected 150 signatures from Nobel Prize laureates calling for Ahmad Reza Jalali’s freedom. In this marathon of speeches, scientists from around the world participated, including those from Italy, Australia, Canada, Sweden, and the United States.
The marathon began at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Tehran time.
Ahmad Reza Jalali was arrested in May 2016 when he traveled from his residence in Sweden to Iran to participate in a scientific conference. He was accused of “espionage” and was sentenced to death by the Islamic Revolutionary Court.
The United Nations and Amnesty International have expressed concern about his execution, and in recent days, several human rights organizations have called for a halt to this sentence.
Previously, Nobel Prize winners from various fields and from around the world, through a petition to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, asked him to free this Iranian-Swedish doctor and researcher so that he could return home and to his life.
