345 University of Tehran Students: Kasri Nouri’s Expulsion Was an Eliminationist and Police Action

345 University of Tehran students, by signing and publishing a letter, have condemned the expulsion of Kasri Nouri, an imprisoned dervish, from the university as “absolutely illegal” and “an eliminationist and police action.”
In this letter addressed to Farhad Nili, the president of the University of Tehran, emphasis was placed on requesting the cancellation of Nouri’s expulsion order, stating that “Kasri Nouri has been imprisoned since the beginning of Esfand 1396 and practically has no ability to attend the university.”
The students who signed this letter, referring to the provisions of the student disciplinary regulations, told the president of the University of Tehran that in cases similar to Mr. Nouri’s situation, the university should “facilitate the student’s continued education,” but instead proceeded to expel him.
Kasri Nouri, a Gonabadi dervish and administrator of the website “Majzoban-e Noor,” was arrested on the first day of Esfand 1396 during the Golestan Haftom incident along with hundreds of other dervishes. After some time, by order of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, he was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, 74 lashes, two years of deprivation from social activities, and exile to “Selas Babajani” city in Kermanshah province.
Mr. Nouri, who has been continuously imprisoned without leave since his initial arrest, had no opportunity to attend the university during this period, and this situation led the officials of the University of Tehran to expel him.
Last week, Pouya Nouri, the brother of this prisoner, announced Mr. Nouri’s expulsion on Twitter, writing that the University of Tehran issued the expulsion letter in Aban of last year.
Following the widespread coverage of this news on social media, Mohammad Ali Zare, the Cultural and Social Deputy of the University of Tehran, while confirming that Kasri Nouri was expelled due to failure to register, said that Kasri Nouri should submit his prison documents.
According to these University of Tehran officials, if Kasri Nouri submits documents showing the reason for his inability to attend registration, “his registration can be processed.”
The University of Tehran deputy did not explain why, if such a procedure was possible, the University of Tehran officials did not attempt to contact this imprisoned student and request such documents before expulsion.
