After One Month, COVID-19 Death Toll in Iran Reaches Three Digits Again; Death of a Journalist Due to Coronavirus

The latest official statistics on coronavirus deaths in Iran have once again exceeded one hundred per day.

Since January 7 (December 18) when the death toll from coronavirus in Iran on that day was reported at 103 people, over the past fifty days the daily death toll from coronavirus in Iran had been reported below one hundred. On Monday, March 1, the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that in the past 24 hours, at least 108 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus infection.

The total number of deaths in Iran from coronavirus has reached 60,180 people.

The official statistics of China, Russia, and Iran cannot be independently verified by experts and cannot be considered reliable and final. Moreover, following the order of the leader of the Islamic Republic prohibiting the use of American and British coronavirus vaccines, there are no clear prospects for mass vaccination in Iran.

Concerns in Iran over the spread of a more contagious and mutated strain of coronavirus have increased. The National Coronavirus Fight Headquarters in Iran announced on Sunday, February 28, the identification of more than 100 cases of infection with the mutated coronavirus virus in various provinces of the country and stated that eight cases have been recorded so far, including the death of three children due to infection with the mutated strain of the virus.

This week, Ali Akrami, a journalist in Tehran, died from coronavirus. Some of his relatives attributed the short time between his infection and death to infection with a more contagious and dangerous strain of coronavirus.
