An ‘Imamzadeh’ Shrine Set on Fire in Shiraz

Iran’s news agency IRNA has reported the arson of an ‘Imamzadeh’ shrine in Shiraz.
According to the report, “a person or persons” stole money and valuables from the site and then set parts of the shrine on fire.
The ‘Imamzadeh’ shrine, named “Bint al-Hasan,” is located in the Darvazeh Kazeron area of Shiraz, which is considered one of the busy and highly trafficked areas of the city.
IRNA reported that this ‘Imamzadeh’ shrine’s lineage traces back to the Second Imam of Shiites. According to the latest statistics announced, there are 11,000 ‘Imamzadeh’ shrines in Iran.
According to officials of the Islamic Republic, in the post-revolution period, the number of Imamzadehs increased sevenfold by the year 1390 (2011) and tenfold by 1397 (2018).
