Several Iranian cinema actors, including Parviz Parastui, announced the news of Lorestani’s death on their Instagram pages and stated that the cause of death was a heart attack.
Khashayar Alvand, a cinema and television writer, told the news agency Khabar Online about the cause of death: “Arif went to the hospital last night with his wife due to prolonged hiccups. Two injections were administered to him there. After that, he went home and went to sleep, but unfortunately he suffered a heart attack in his sleep.”
He added that Lorestani had no history of illness, was an athlete, and did not smoke.
Arif Lorestani, 45 years old, was born in Kermanshah. He played roles in comedy series such as “Bitter Coffee,” “My Villa,” “On the Margins,” “Pearl Lane,” “I Was Joking,” “My Villa,” and “The Man with Two Thousand Faces,” and had appeared in several films including “Wedding Dinner,” “Choice,” “Equation,” and “Mani and Nada.” His role as Baladul-Mulk (Chief of Nezam) in the series “Bitter Coffee” was among his most successful and popular works.
Following his death, reports were published regarding his wife’s criticism of the hospital’s performance and medical malpractice, which prompted a reaction from Reza Paydar, Deputy of Iran University of Medical Sciences. He said that investigations into the death of this artist are continuing, but in the initial review, there is no documented evidence of medical malpractice. The Medical System Organization also considered claims of medical malpractice without evidence to be a crime.
