Asghar Amirzadegan, Teacher and Labor Activist in Fars Province, Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Asghar Amirzadegan, a teacher and labor activist in Fars Province, has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Revolutionary Court of the province.
An informed source told Voice of America on Thursday, Mordad 17, that Asghar Amirzadegan, who was previously arrested in Farvardin of the current year following a summons to the Firuzabad City Prosecutor’s Office and spent one day in detention, has been sentenced to one year in prison by Akbar Rusta, the judge of the Revolutionary Court of Fars Province, on charges of “propaganda against the system.”
According to this informed source, the last hearing session in this case was held on Khordad 28, and the court’s verdict was announced to this labor activist on Monday, Mordad 14.
On the other hand, Asghar Amirzadegan in another case, whose court hearing was held on Khordad 25 by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court 2 of Firuzabad City on charges of “insulting officials” and “spreading false information,” has been sentenced to six months in prison by the case judge.
Based on information received by Voice of America, Amirzadegan’s six-month prison sentence has been suspended for 18 months, and this labor activist’s one-year prison sentence has been suspended for two years.
Asghar Amirzadegan was arrested on Farvardin 31 upon reporting to the Firuzabad City Prosecutor’s Office following receipt of a written summons, and was temporarily released on Sunday, Ordibehesht 1, with a bail of 20 million tomans until the completion of legal proceedings.
