Case of Qasem Shelesaedi and Arash Keikhosravi, Detained Lawyers, Sent to Appeals Court

The case of Qasem Shelesaedi and Arash Keikhosravi, who were previously each sentenced to 6 years in prison, has been sent to the appeals court.

Mohammad Hossein Aghasi announced the news on Tuesday, the 23rd of Bahman, stating that the appeals court has not yet set a date for hearing the case of these lawyers.

Arash Keikhosravi and Qasem Shelesaedi were sentenced in December of this year by Branch 15 of the Islamic Revolution Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Selavati, to 5 years in prison on the charge of “assembly and conspiracy” and to one year in prison on the charge of “propaganda activities against the system.”

The two lawyers were arrested on the 27th of Mordad in front of the building of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

At that time, Qasem Shelesaedi had announced that he was present in front of the parliament in protest against the Guardian Council oversight. He stated that the country’s situation “is the result of depriving the people of their sovereignty through the evil tradition of Guardian Council oversight,” declaring that he would “shoulder the flag of struggle against Guardian Council oversight.”
