Cyber group “Ali Justice” hacks live broadcast of several Iranian state TV networks on Televeion

Televeion, the live streaming and archive platform of state radio and television networks of the Islamic Republic, was hacked by the cyber group “Ali Justice” on Tuesday, February 1st, and the group broadcast political content on programs of several Iranian state networks transmitted through this platform.

The cyber group “Ali Justice” announced this news to Radio Farda on Tuesday and also sent a video of the hack, while the Televeion network confirmed disruption in its system.

Televeion stated in this regard that “Televeion infrastructure was disrupted on February 1st from 2 a.m. to 11 p.m., and programs from several networks during this time period were archived incompletely”.

On Tuesday, while regular programs of Iranian state radio and television networks were being broadcast, these programs were cut off and then scenes of anti-Islamic Republic protests with the slogan “Death to the Dictator” were broadcast.

Afterward, a masked individual read a message addressed to “the people of Iran” with the content that “We are prepared to shake the foundations of the corrupt regime that has dominated our country. They will no longer silence us. We will turn their Ten Days into mourning. Hijab without hijab. We will burn the hijab. We will break their idols. We will expose the palaces of tyrants so the people can hold them accountable. The regime has seen our blow and will see it again”.

At the end, the slogan “Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, we are all together” was broadcast, which has been one of the slogans of protests in recent years against the Islamic Republic system.

The cyber group known as “Ali Justice” also provided videos to Radio Farda and some other media outlets in spring of this year that contained images of torture, mistreatment of prisoners, beating and stripping them, smuggling drugs into prisons, clashes between officials, and attempts at prisoner suicide.

The hacking of Televeion by this group occurs while just one week before that, some domestic radio and television networks, including Channel One of IRIB, Quran Channel, Payam Radio, and Javan Radio were hacked for a few moments.

Following this 10-second hack, program transmission from several Iranian television networks including Channels One, Quran, Payam, and Javan stopped, and simultaneously images of Maryam Rajavi and Massoud Rajavi, leaders of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization, and an image of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic with a red X over it showing the slogan “Death to Khamenei, Hail to Rajavi” were broadcast.

Technical officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization said a week earlier that the server was likely targeted in the cyberattack and described this attack as “an extremely complex operation”.
