Christen Feuers Supports Refugee Rights

“Christen Feuers,” chairman of the Council of the Protestant Church in Germany, expressed support for refugee rights in his speech.

“Christen Feuers,” chairman of the Council of the Protestant Church in Germany, delivered a speech yesterday, Sunday, November 10, in the city of “Würzburg,” where the annual assembly of the Protestant Church is being held.

The main topic of this year’s conference at the Protestant Church assembly is “Flight, Migration, and Human Rights,” which will continue until Wednesday, November 13.

The chairman of the Council of the Protestant Church, in his speech at this annual assembly, while referring to the fact that Germans should not view refugees as a public threat, said: “Political debates about asylum have centered on deportation and preventing refugee entry, and this is very dangerous. We are talking about people, not numbers.”

Feuers also, in reaction to the results of the American elections and the political crisis in Germany, added: “The world has been shaken and many people feel greater insecurity and fear. Democracy develops on the basis of stable institutions. I hope that Germany achieves political stability.”

“Josef Schuster,” chairman of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, also delivered a speech at this assembly. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of the “fundamental right of asylum” for individuals who are under political persecution.

“Anna-Nicole Heinrich,” chairman of the Church assembly, also stated: “Every human being, regardless of where they come from, possesses human dignity. This issue is often overlooked in the heated discussions about deportation and restricting immigrant entry. As churches, we will continue to support the vulnerable and defend the human rights of refugees.”
