Collapse of Four-Story Building in Kermanshah Leaves Two Dead

The collapse of a four-story building in the city of Nosud in Kermanshah province has claimed at least two lives so far.
According to news agencies in Iran, it remains unclear why this incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, June 9, but Mojtaba Khaldi, spokesperson for the country’s emergency services, suggested that the cause of the accident could be “an explosion resulting from gas leakage.”
The CEO of the Red Crescent Society of Kermanshah province also stated that the building was “completely” destroyed due to “a gas explosion” and “two adjacent residential units were also destroyed.”
Based on reports, by Thursday noon, in addition to two deaths, six injured people had been pulled from under the rubble, with four of them described as being in critical condition.
The CEO of the Red Crescent Society of Kermanshah province said: The gas explosion resulted in the complete destruction of a four-story residential unit in Paveh city, and two adjacent units to this building were also destroyed.
Building safety in Iran has received increased media attention following the collapse of the “Metropol” structure in Abadan. Among other things, official sources have announced that there are 129 “extremely hazardous” buildings in Tehran.
On June 2, the “Metropol” twin towers in the center of Abadan collapsed, killing at least 41 people.
