Continuation of Detention and Uncertain Status of Bahareh Soleimani in IRGC Intelligence Detention Facility

Bahareh Soleimani, a Tehran resident, continues to be held in an indefinite detention status at the IRGC Intelligence detention facility, known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison, 81 days after her arrest. Ms. Soleimani suffers from a lung disease and has an urgent need for medication and medical care. Since her detention, Ms. Soleimani’s family has had only one limited visit with her.
According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists’ Network in Iran, on Monday, December 6, 2021, Bahareh Soleimani, a Tehran resident, continues to be held in indefinite detention at the IRGC Intelligence detention facility known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison, 81 days after her arrest.
Since her detention, Ms. Soleimani has been deprived of access to her chosen lawyer. According to Touraj Soleimani, Ms. Soleimani’s brother, in his last contact with the family, she informed them that her interrogations continue.
This citizen suffers from a lung disease and has an urgent need for medication and medical care. Her family is concerned about the case being filed against her and her health condition.
Baraheh Soleimani was previously arrested on September 16, 2021, by officials who identified themselves as security police and was transferred to an unknown location. Security forces conducted a search of her parents’ home during the arrest and subsequently went to Ms. Soleimani’s residence in Tehran and searched it as well. During these searches, a number of Ms. Soleimani’s personal belongings and those of her family, including a computer, mobile phone, books, CDs, and floppy disks, were confiscated by the officers.
Previously, an informed source told HRANA about the details of Bahareh Soleimani’s arrest: “Bahareh Soleimani’s father suffers from heart and lung disease (as a result of chemical exposure during military service during the war) and his physical condition deteriorated during the two-hour search of the home. After drawing up a report, the officers told Bahareh Soleimani’s family to report to the Prosecutor’s Office, Branch 2 of Qods Evin on Sunday morning, September 18. However, when the family went, they were told that until her status is determined, you do not have permission to visit or make phone contact with her, and they only informed them that your daughter is in the security section and in solitary confinement. Bahareh Soleimani worked in the medical field and over the past eight months, as a result of contact with coronavirus patients, she has suffered lung damage and needs medication.”
Baraheh Soleimani is 43 years old and a Tehran resident.
