Continued Suppression of Critics’ Voices, Security Forces Raid Home of ‘Marzieh Rasouli’

Security forces of the Islamic Republic raided the home of “Marzieh Rasouli,” an independent and veteran journalist, and confiscated her personal belongings. This attack indicates the continuation of system suppression of opponents.
On the morning of Monday, 28 Mehr (October 20), security forces of the Islamic Republic raided the home of Marzieh Rasouli, a veteran journalist and producer of the podcast “Radio Marz,” searched her house, and confiscated all of her personal electronic devices.
According to news sources, security forces, upon entering her residence, confiscated all personal electronic devices belonging to her and her spouse. Meanwhile, the website “Omtedad” also reported that Rasouli lost access to her personal accounts on social networks.
This incident occurs as part of a new wave of suppression of journalists, civil activists, and independent content producers in Iran. In recent months, security forces have increased summonses, arrests, and confiscation of personal equipment from media activists in an effort to silence the voices of critics and independent accounts of social developments.
Until the time of preparing this report, no official explanation has been provided by government institutions regarding the reasons for the search of this journalist’s home and confiscation of her belongings. According to observers, this structural silence in the face of violations of journalists’ rights is part of the familiar pattern of systematic suppression of opponents and critics of the Islamic Republic system.
In recent months, multiple reports have been published by international organizations, including Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), identifying Iran as one of the world’s largest prisons for journalists.
These organizations have warned that Iran’s security apparatus uses tactics such as interrogation without court orders, confiscation of work tools, and digital surveillance of personal accounts to exert pressure on journalists.
Marzieh Rasouli has previously been arrested and interrogated in past years due to her media activities. She is among journalists who focused on human narratives about Iranian society and cultural and social borders through the podcast “Radio Marz,” a podcast which, according to its listeners, spoke honestly about the lives of ordinary people.
According to analysts, the recent raid on the home of this independent journalist is a reminder that every critical voice, every independent narrative, and every freedom-seeking activist in Iran remains in the line of fire of suppression.
