Corona in America: 2.5 Million Cases and 125,000 Deaths

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, the number of coronavirus cases in America has reached 2.5 million people, and the death toll has reached 125,000. The main hotspots of coronavirus are reported to be in the southern states of Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California.
Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, America, which records the latest cases and deaths from coronavirus globally, reported on Sunday, June 28 that the number of coronavirus cases in America has exceeded 2.5 million.
According to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, 125,000 Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19. This number equals one-quarter of the total coronavirus victims worldwide.
America has a population of 330 million and has topped the list of coronavirus-affected countries in the world.
Johns Hopkins University had reported last Friday that for the first time the record for coronavirus cases in America was broken with 45,255 cases within 24 hours. According to the same data, the day before that, 40,000 people had been infected with coronavirus in a single day.
The Johns Hopkins University website is regularly updated with received data and for this reason shows higher figures for coronavirus infection cases compared to official statistics from the World Health Organization WHO.
Which American states have the most coronavirus cases?
The highest rate of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours was recorded in Florida. Local authorities reported 9,585 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.
Southern American states such as Texas and Arizona currently have the highest rate of coronavirus infection. California has also been caught in the coronavirus crisis.
American authorities have taken some measures to combat further spread of coronavirus. Texas has issued an order to close bars, and Florida has banned the sale of alcoholic beverages in bars. Despite this, Republican governors of these two states had previously opposed extending coronavirus restrictions.
The concentration of COVID-19 outbreaks in the United States has shifted across different regions. In February and March, New York City and areas in the northeastern United States were the epicenter of the outbreak. Currently, however, these states have been able to control the spread of the virus.
Anthony Fauci, a prominent American virologist and senior advisor to the White House in dealing with coronavirus outbreak, expressed concern last Friday about the rapid increase in coronavirus spread in the south and west of the country. Fauci has confirmed that America has serious problems in certain areas.
Meanwhile, Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States, also canceled campaign events scheduled for next week in Arizona and Florida. Members of Trump’s campaign team announced that the cancellation of the campaign was due to “excessive caution” in relation to coronavirus.
