Corona in Iran – Death Toll Breaks Record Again; Travel Restrictions Imposed in 25 Provinces

The daily death toll from COVID-19 patients on Monday, November 2, reached 440 people, setting a new record. Meanwhile, as the corona crisis continues in Iran, travel restrictions have finally been imposed in 25 provinces, albeit with considerable delay.
According to official statistics from the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic, 440 coronavirus patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll from the virus to 35,738 people. Additionally, according to official statistics, 8,289 new cases of coronavirus were identified in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infected people to 628,780.
The accuracy of statistics announced by the Islamic Republic, like those of China and Russia, is highly questionable, and based on available evidence and the contradictions observed in the statistics presented by various institutions, it can be said that accurate information is not being provided about the actual number of infected and deceased. The World Health Organization and even the Islamic Parliament’s Research Center have stated that the actual number of infections and deaths is several times higher than the official figures in Iran.
Iran, which in the second half of summer witnessed widespread coronavirus but saw the reopening of schools, holding of university entrance exams, and Muharram ceremonies, is now facing the third wave of coronavirus outbreak, with 27 provinces of the country in red status.
Civil activists had warned long ago about the negligence in Iran for reducing the spread of coronavirus.
Finally, restrictions were imposed in Iranian provinces including Tehran
The Islamic Republic authorities, after the third wave of coronavirus in Iran that has affected all provinces of the country, finally agreed to announce travel restrictions in 25 provinces including Tehran. Accordingly, the exit of private vehicles with local license plates and the entry of non-local vehicles except in emergency cases are prohibited, and violators will be fined 500,000 tomans.
The head of the Medical Organization also stated that Iran has been among the top five countries in the world in terms of the number of coronavirus deaths for a long time, and on Sunday, like other officials, admitted that the actual death toll from coronavirus is “at least three times the announced figure.”
The United States has warned since the beginning of coronavirus about the cover-up and incompetence of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s authorities.
Mike Pompeo, the U.S. Secretary of State, said on Friday, February 28, in a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, that given the history of cover-ups by Islamic Republic officials, the Iranian regime is unwilling to provide information about the coronavirus outbreak, and he was concerned they might be hiding important information.
The coronavirus crisis continues as the Ministry of Health has declared the status of all Iranian provinces except Hormozgan, Fars, Golestan, and Sistan and Baluchestan as red. These provinces are also in orange and yellow status.
