Donald Trump: I Ended Windfall Wealth for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, on Thursday, October 3, by signing the “National Strategy for Counterterrorism,” cited the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear agreement with Iran—which “placed windfall wealth at the disposal of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps”—among his accomplishments in this area.

According to the White House website report, Mr. Trump wrote in the introduction to America’s new counterterrorism strategy: “Under my administration, American efforts to defeat terrorists have accelerated.”

The American President, after referring to the defeat of ISIS in Iraq and Syria with the cooperation of this country’s allies, said: “I ended the presence of America in a horrible agreement with Iran. An agreement that provided windfall wealth for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its proxy groups and financed Iran’s bad behavior around the world.”

Emphasizing the importance of the “National Strategy for Counterterrorism,” he said: We use all tools of American power to protect our great nation and will defeat our enemies.

In the 34-page text of this strategy, “terrorists affiliated with radical Islam,” “Iran as the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism,” and “other forms of terrorism” are mentioned as the primary threats facing the United States.

Throughout this strategy, there are repeated references to the name of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Quds Force, and by mentioning the proxy groups of the Revolutionary Guards, “most notably the Lebanese Hezbollah group,” references to “Iran’s destabilization in the region and in the world,” such as Iraq, Lebanon, Palestinian territories, Syria, and Yemen, are cited as threats facing the United States.

George Bush and Barack Obama, two former American Presidents, published their government’s counterterrorism strategy at the beginning of their presidencies in 2006 and 2011, respectively.

Bolton: Iran is the World’s Central Bank of Terrorism

John Bolton, the National Security Advisor to the American President, in explaining the country’s new counterterrorism strategy, also specifically named Iran and called the Islamic Republic “the world’s central bank for international terrorism.”

Mr. Bolton, referring to American sanctions, particularly the second round of sanctions that are scheduled to be implemented from November 5, said: The aim is not to make any exceptions in the purchase of oil from Iran for other countries, so that possibly Tehran’s oil sales are reduced to zero.

Iran has not yet responded to the remarks of Donald Trump and his National Security Advisor.
