Explosions and Dust in Pastur, Extensive U.S. and Israeli Attack on Iran Targeting Leader’s Residence and Sensitive Centers

Simultaneous military attacks by the United States and Israel on Tehran and other cities, the rise of smoke around Ali Khamenei’s residence, and the death of senior officials indicate the scale of these attacks.

On Saturday, February 28, corresponding to Esfand 9, the United States and Israel launched extensive military operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which according to multiple media sources, resulted in explosions, dust, and smoke in the capital and key areas of the country. These attacks, carried out with the participation of the air force and missile forces of both countries, included targeting the office and vicinity of the leader’s residence in the Pastur area of Tehran and other military and political positions.

Videos published on social media and news networks show columns of dust and smoke rising near Ali Khamenei’s office, and witnesses reported the filming location as the intersection of Khademeh and Ravenmehr streets in the northern Pastur neighborhood of Tehran.

International media outlets reported widespread explosions in Tehran, Kermanshah, Lorestan, Qom, Karaj, and Tabriz, as well as the sound of explosions heard in these cities, while official reports on the exact number of casualties and damages have not yet been released.

According to initial reports, Ali Shamkhani, supreme advisor to the leader of the Islamic Republic and secretary of the Supreme Defense Council, was killed in these attacks. Domestic media reports also indicate that thousands of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other Iranian armed forces personnel were killed or wounded during the attacks, and some sources have stated that command and intelligence centers were targeted.

To date, no official confirmation has been released by Iranian authorities regarding the status of Ali Khamenei, leader of the Islamic Republic, and other senior officials; some reports suggest he was transferred to a safe location before the attack.

Following these attacks, Iran immediately launched missile and drone strikes against targets in Israel and U.S. bases in the Persian Gulf region, including in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, with some sources also reporting civilian casualties and damages in these countries.

This military crisis occurs as nuclear and diplomatic negotiations in recent weeks have been underway to limit Iran’s nuclear program, and many countries in the region and around the world have warned of its expansion.

An attack of this scale has provoked extensive international reactions, and some countries have described it as a violation of Iran’s national sovereignty. Media outlets have also reported that following these clashes, fires and explosions occurred in the 72 Narmak Square in Tehran, near the residence of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran’s former president.
