FARS News Agency Confirms Authenticity of Mahsa Amini’s Brain Scan Images

State news agency FARS confirmed on Monday evening, September 28, the authenticity of Mahsa Amini’s CT brain scan images that had been published by a foreign media outlet, but claimed that “there are no visible signs of head trauma or bleeding in these images.”
Prior to this, Iran International website published Mahsa Amini’s CT scan images, which it said “were obtained by a hacking group and provided to the media,” stating that the images “indicate a skull fracture on the right side of her head as a result of direct blunt force trauma to the skull.”
However, FARS news agency, despite acknowledging the authenticity of these images, claimed that the media had published them “from an angle that makes the fracture appear visible.”
The agency, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, also quoted an unnamed “specialist physician” claiming that the images show Mahsa “had previously undergone brain tumor surgery in the head area.”
Since the initial hours following Mahsa Amini’s death, Islamic Republic officials and state media have attributed her death to her physical health condition. The Interior Minister previously claimed that “Mahsa Amini underwent brain surgery at age 5.”
This comes as Amjad Amini, Mahsa’s father, has formally called these claims “lies.” Mr. Amini said on Tuesday, September 29, in an interview with Rouydad 24: “I categorically deny all statements made by Commander Rahimi, the head of law enforcement.”
The head of the Medical System Coordination Council of Hormozgan Province also rejected the claim that Mahsa Amini died of a heart attack in a letter made public, considering head trauma as a possible cause of death.
Mahsa Amini’s death following her arrest for non-compliance with mandatory hijab rules sparked widespread protests in most cities of Kurdistan Province, Rasht, the capital, and several other cities, and in some cities led to security forces firing at protesters.
