Reports and images shared on social media indicate that farmers from Bavi city and green space workers of Hamidiyeh Municipality in Khuzestan province have gathered for several consecutive days.

Based on these images, farmers from Bavi city gathered on Monday, the 3rd of Ordibehesht, in front of the Ahvaz Water Network Management and Operation Company to protest the non-allocation of their water rights.

Simultaneously, green space workers in Hamidiyeh, near Ahvaz, also gathered for the second day to protest non-payment of their overdue wages.

Dozens of green space workers from Hamidiyeh Municipality gathered on Sunday as well in front of the municipality building in the city, demanding payment of their overdue salaries. Following this gathering, the governor of Hamidiyeh confirmed that the contract green space workers of Hamidiyeh Municipality are owed five months of back wages.

While labor protests have existed sporadically in the country in previous years, they have intensified since December of last year following nationwide public protests.

Many workers facing serious livelihood challenges have been forced to stage protests to claim their wages, which in some cases have been met with harsh treatment by security forces.
