Khadijeh Mahdi Pour, a political prisoner, returned to Ilam Prison on Saturday, July 2, 2022, after the completion of her furlough period.
According to a report by Hrana news agency, the news organ of a coalition of human rights activists in Iran, on Saturday, July 2, 2022, Khadijeh Mahdi Pour returned to Ilam Prison after her furlough period ended.
This political prisoner was sent on a short-term medical furlough from Ilam Prison on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
Ms. Mahdi Pour had previously been sent on a short-term furlough from Ilam Prison on April 1, 2022, and returned to prison on April 15, 2022, after her furlough ended.
Previously, Hrana had reported on the lack of medical attention to Khadijeh Mahdi Pour’s condition. Prior to this, after considerable delays in her transfer to the hospital despite the appearance of a dark spot in her eye, Ms. Mahdi Pour was finally transferred to a hospital outside the prison on December 4, 2021, and after receiving glasses and eye drops, was returned to prison.
Khadijeh Mahdi Pour, a political prisoner serving her 20-month sentence in Ilam Prison without observing the principle of separation of crimes, was beaten by a number of prisoners accused of violent crimes on Thursday, February 9, 2022. This resulted in injury to her eye.
Hrana had previously reported on the latest condition of this political prisoner in Ilam Prison and the pressure exerted by security agencies to harass and torture her through prisoners with common crimes.
Khadijeh Mahdi Pour was arrested on October 9, 2021, by agents of the Sepah Intelligence Organization at her uncle’s house and was transferred to Ilam Prison after 2 days.
She was ultimately tried by the Revolutionary Court on charges of “propaganda against the regime, insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, and insulting the Leader” and was sentenced under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code to the maximum punishment of 20 months imprisonment.
Ms. Mahdi Pour was also acquitted of the charge of “supporting groups opposed to the regime.” According to an informed source, Ms. Mahdi Pour was told that she would not be eligible for conditional release or early release because she did not repent.
She had previously been arrested and convicted. She was arrested on October 31, 2020, by security forces in Ilam and was ultimately sentenced by the Ilam Revolutionary Court to pay three million tomans as a fine in lieu of imprisonment.
Khadijeh Mahdi Pour is 34 years old and a resident of Ilam.
