Manouchehr Vathough, Veteran Iranian Cinema Actor, Dies at 78

Manouchehr Vathough, a veteran actor of pre-revolution Iranian cinema, passed away on Sunday, the 8th of Esfand at the age of 78 in London. According to reports, Manouchehr Vathough had been diagnosed with cancer in recent months.
Manouchehr Vathough first entered cinema in 1964 (1343 in the Persian calendar) with the film “The Ignorant and the Prostitutes” directed by Hossein Madani, and subsequently performed in more than 75 Persian films.
His last films were “Right and Wrong,” “Gold Necklace,” and “The Dagger Wound of a Friend,” which were released in 1978 (1357 in the Persian calendar).
After the revolution, he was banned from working and attempted to pursue acting in Lalehzar theaters, but facing difficulties along the way, he eventually left Iran and lived in London.
In his early years of moving to London, Manouchehr Vathough performed in the theatrical production “Akhoundi Variety” produced by Reza Fazeli and directed by Reza Sarkub.
