Mohammad Hossein Ahangari Released from Tehran’s Grand Prison Under Electronic Monitoring

Hrana News Agency – Mohammad Hossein Ahangari, one of those detained during the nationwide protests of November 2019 (Aban 98), was released from Tehran’s Grand Prison under electronic monitoring supervision. He will spend the remainder of his three-year prison sentence outside prison with movement restrictions.

According to Hrana News Agency, the news outlet of the Iranian human rights activists network, Mohammad Hossein Ahangari, one of those detained during the nationwide protests of November 2019 (Aban 98), was released from Tehran’s Grand Prison with an electronic monitoring bracelet on Saturday, February 25, 2022 (7 Esfand 1400).

Mohammad Hossein Ahangari was arrested on November 26, 2019 (5 Azar 98) by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Aligoodarz city, Lorestan Province, during the nationwide protests known as the November protests, and was subsequently transferred to Tehran.

He was held at the Islamshahr Intelligence Bureau for two days and was then transferred to Evin Prison. Mr. Ahangari was finally released on December 12, 2019 (21 Azar) after posting bail and as a temporary measure.

In November 2020 (Aban 99), he was sentenced to three years imprisonment by Branch 101 of the Islamshahr Criminal Court on charges of “setting fire to a Basij base.”

Mr. Ahangari was transferred to prison on December 9, 2020 (18 Azar 99) to serve his sentence.

Mohammad Hossein Ahangari is the son of Hamid and is from Islamshahr city.
