Nationwide Protests; Arrest of 3 Citizens in Behbahan and Ahvaz

Hrana News Agency – Over the past days, Milad Alipour, Mehshid Biibak, and Sanaz Razavi, citizens residing in Behbahan and Ahvaz, were arrested by security forces in connection with nationwide protests.

According to Hrana News Agency, the news organ of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network, 3 citizens were arrested in Behbahan and Ahvaz in relation to the nationwide protests.

An informed source regarding the arrest of these citizens told Hrana: Milad Alipour, a citizen residing in Behbahan, was transferred to the quarantine ward of the city’s prison after his arrest. Mehshid Biibak and Sanaz Razavi were also arrested by security forces in Ahvaz, but there is no information about their fate.

So far, there is no information regarding the charges against these citizens.

The September 2022 protests are referred to as a series of nationwide protests that began on the 26th of September following the death of a 22-year-old girl named Mahsa (Zhina) Amini due to the actions of the Guidance Patrol (morality police) in Tehran, and by the 1st of October 2022 had spread to at least 85 cities and 18 universities across 29 provinces of the country. These protests, which continue to this day, have so far resulted in the arrest of hundreds of people and the death and injury of dozens of protesters, including children.

Media outlets close to security institutions published forced confessions from some of the arrested by accusing them of committing violence. Similarly, the Iranian government disrupted internet access across the country in the residential sector and on mobile phones.
