Warning and Fear of System Collapse by ‘Majid Ansari’
“Majid Ansari,” member of the Expediency Discernment Council, has warned about the collapse of the Islamic Republic system.
Majid Ansari is a reformist cleric and politician, executive secretary of the reformist political organization Assembly of Combatant Clergy, and a member of the Expediency Discernment Council. He is a close relative of the Khomeini family with a record of simultaneous membership in three institutions: the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the Assembly of Experts for Leadership, and the Expediency Discernment Council.
Many of his hard-hitting remarks about the system and officials have not been broadcast on state media, just as many speeches by the Supreme Leader, the President, and system officials have been censored and not aired.
The Instagram page “Judgment with You” published a video of Majid Ansari’s speech at a meeting in which Ansari states that he had previously warned about the system’s collapse.
At this meeting, Majid Ansari said: “In year 84 (2005-2006), which was the end of the parliamentary term, I said from my perspective that within the next 15-16 years we will face collapse. The Supreme Leader (Ali Khamenei) said that the term ‘collapse’ is a harsh expression. I said that I don’t mean political collapse; I mean financial and economic collapse, and if we reach that point, is it possible for political life to continue or not? I don’t know about the political system; it needs to be examined.”
He continued with regret about the current state of the system: I feel that today we are at the edge of that abyss, at the very point that was predicted and we didn’t want to reach. Today we are in a dangerous historical turning point, and the danger of this dangerous turn has been increasingly growing and getting closer.
Other audio files from inside system meetings have also been leaked, indicating disagreements among officials within the system and warning of its collapse. This means that the Islamic Republic system is fully aware of its own overthrow and, as they themselves say, is in a dangerous historical turning point.
