Outbreak of Mysterious Disease in India Sends Over 300 People to Hospitals

Reports indicate that amid the coronavirus pandemic crisis, at least 345 people have been hospitalized due to contracting a mysterious and unknown disease in one of India’s southern states, and one person has died in this outbreak.
According to Indian newspapers including “Hindustan Times” and “Indian Express,” patients suffering from this unknown disease have been admitted to hospitals and medical centers exhibiting a wide range of symptoms including seizures, nausea, and coma, and at least one death caused by this mysterious disease has been reported.
Hindustan Times, citing local officials, writes that coronavirus test results for all hospitalized patients have been negative so far, and this has raised concerns among Indian health and public health authorities.
The city of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh state has been identified as the epicenter of this mysterious disease outbreak.
Based on some speculation, consumption of contaminated water may have caused the outbreak of this disease. This comes as the Indian government has claimed that water samples from areas affected by this disease have been examined in laboratories and show no signs of contamination.

The emergence of this unknown disease and the possibility of an increase in the number of affected people in such circumstances will only add to the challenges faced by medical centers and physicians.
After the United States, India has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world. More than 140,000 people have so far died in this country as a result of coronavirus.
