Political Prisoner Zahra Sarv Returned to Evin Prison

Zahra Sarv, a political prisoner, was returned to Evin Prison despite her medical treatment remaining incomplete.
According to Hrana, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on the morning of Monday, December 11, Zahra Sarv, a political prisoner on hunger strike, was transferred from Taleghani Hospital back to Evin Prison while her medical treatment had not been completed.
According to an informed source, Ms. Sarv was transferred to Taleghani Hospital on the evening of Sunday, December 10, while suffering from low blood pressure and in poor physical condition. The hospital physician diagnosed her with stomach bleeding and announced that she required proper medical care. However, at 4 a.m. on Monday morning, despite the physician’s warnings and without the consent of the prison guard, she was returned to Evin Prison.
Zahra Sarv, born in 1986, has been on hunger strike since December 2 in protest against the continued failure to address her demands, which include the denial of conditional release, lack of medical attention to her physical condition, and authorities’ refusal to grant her leave. She continues her hunger strike and has refused to receive intravenous fluids.
On May 2, 2023, Zahra Sarv was transferred from Ward 8 of Qarchak Prison in Varamin to Evin Prison along with several other political prisoners and defendants. She was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Iman Afshari, to 7 years imprisonment on charges of “social crimes, conspiracy, and propaganda against the system.” With the application of Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 6 years of her sentence are enforceable.
