Poor Physical Condition of Nahid Shaqaqi, Women’s Rights Activist, in Ward 209 of Evin Prison

Nahid Shaqaqi, a civil activist who was arrested by security forces 16 days ago and transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison, is in poor physical condition due to her medical history.
Kaveh Shaqaqi, Nahid Shaqaqi’s brother, wrote on Instagram on Thursday, June 9: “My sister Nahid Shaqaqi remains in limbo two weeks after her arrest, and prison officials have not responded to repeated family inquiries. This is while Nahid has a history of spinal injuries, and in her last call from prison, she complained of severe pain in the vertebrae and tailbone due to prolonged sitting during interrogations.”
Earlier, Nahid Shaqaqi’s mother expressed concern about her daughter’s condition in a video file.
Nahid Shaqaqi is one of the arrested members of “Women’s Voice of Iran.” In recent years, she has given speeches at seminars of the Women’s Voice of Iran group on violence against women.
Akram Nassiriyan, another member of Women’s Voice of Iran who was arrested by security forces on Monday, May 30, on the street and transferred to Evin Prison, was temporarily released on bail on June 5 until the end of legal proceedings.
Last February, Amnesty International, in a report, called 2018 – during which 112 women’s rights activists were arrested in Iran – a “year of shame” for the Islamic Republic.
