President Trump Issues Executive Order to Stop Separation of Children from Illegal Immigrant Families

The President of the United States ended the practice of separating illegal immigrant families from their children at the country’s southern borders by signing an executive order on Wednesday.

President Trump said in remarks at the White House: “We want families to be together. This is very important. I am signing something that will make this happen.”

Since a week ago, the separation of children of illegal immigrants from their families has become an important issue in America. Media outlets said this was due to the “zero tolerance” policy issued by the Department of Justice. However, the Trump administration said this was the law and the government was only enforcing it.

With the new executive order from President Trump, illegal immigrants and their children under 18 years of age will be detained together at border crossings, and their children will not be separated from their families.

It was also announced that the handling of cases of adults with children will be prioritized at the immigration administration.

Previously, President Trump told a group of Congressional lawmakers who visited the White House that seeing images of crying children when separated from their parents breaks anyone’s heart. He added that we want to have a compassionate heart, but we also want secure borders.
