Videos and reports sent to Voice of America show that in more than ten major Iranian cities, including the capital Tehran, protesting people held demonstrations against rising prices and the country’s problems with harsh slogans against government officials.

On Thursday evening, the eleventh of Mordad, angry people in Vanak Square in Tehran chanted “Cannons, tanks, rockets, the mullahs must disappear.”

In the city of Karaj, where gatherings had been held in recent days, on Thursday protesters gathered in several locations including Eshtehard.

Demonstrations were also held in the city of Shiraz in southern Iran with the participation of large crowds, and after security forces attacked the peaceful gathering, people chanted slogans against the clergy.

In the city of Ahvaz as well, protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with slogans.

Mashhad, where protests had started in Dey month, also joined the demonstrations on Thursday.

Over the past six months, discontent with the Iranian government has increased severely and has been repeatedly expressed in the slogans of protesters. They have expressed their dissatisfaction with the country’s officials and reform-minded political activists through slogans such as “Reza Shah, may your soul rest in peace” or “Reformists, hardliners, it’s all over.”

In recent weeks, the fall in the value of the dollar and economic problems have added to the discontent.

The value of each US dollar, which was 3,000 tomans a year ago, has reached 10,000 tomans.
