Reciprocal Attacks Between Coalition Forces and Yemeni Houthis on Each Other’s Positions

Following a Houthi missile attack on an unpopulated area in southern Saudi Arabia, coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia announced that they have destroyed a ballistic missile depot and an explosive Houthi drone.
Arab coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia, fighting against the Houthis in Yemen, announced on the morning of Tuesday, March 16, that they have targeted an explosive drone that was flying toward the city of Khamis Mushait in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
On Monday, March 15, two ballistic missiles were fired by Iran-backed Houthi insurgents at an unpopulated area in Saudi Arabia’s southern border region.
The commander of the coalition forces, following the missile attack, told Al-Ekhbariya Television that these forces have destroyed a ballistic missile depot in Saada province in northern Yemen, from where these missiles had been launched.
He said: “Our operations are aimed at protecting civilians by neutralizing and eliminating the source of threats.” He added that the military operations of the coalition forces are in accordance with international law and current regulations.
Houthi insurgent attacks on Saudi Arabia have intensified in recent weeks. On March 7, coalition forces announced that they had destroyed a drone and missile warehouse from which attacks had been launched against the Ras Tanura oil facilities.
The Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia entered the Yemeni war in March 2015 to defend the legitimate government of the country against Iran-backed Houthi insurgents.
The United Nations and the United States are striving to bring the Houthis to the negotiating table and end the Yemeni war. The Biden administration, unlike Donald Trump, has halted support for Saudi Arabia in the Yemeni war.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been accused of sending weapons to the Houthis but has consistently denied this accusation.
