Security Pressures on Labor Activists; Two Teachers Accused of ‘Propaganda Against the System’

Concurrent with a new round of judicial and security pressures on labor and cultural activists, Mahmoud Beshti Langaroudi and Salah Azadi have been summoned to judicial authorities to address new cases.
Mahmoud Beshti Langaroudi, a recognized labor activist among teachers, has been summoned to court on new charges of “propaganda against the system and insulting the leader.”
Mr. Beshti Langaroudi posted an image of the notification sent to his lawyer on his Twitter account, showing that he has been summoned to court based on the mentioned charges.
The Vice Chair of the Iran Teachers’ Professional Association responded to this summons, describing it as “new case fabrication with fabricated charges and without any legal evidence.”
Meanwhile, a labor activist in Marivan named Salah Azadi has been summoned by the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of the county after being interrogated at the FATA Police.
Human rights sources have reported that Mr. Azadi’s mobile phone was confiscated after his summons and interrogation at the FATA Police in the city, and a legal case has been opened against him.
Based on the court notification that was released, Salah Azadi has been charged by the prosecutor with “propaganda against the Islamic Republic system, disturbing public opinion, and support for military groups through uploading films and images,” and has been asked to report to the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Marivan County.
