Sepideh Qolian, Detained Civil Activist, Granted Leave

Mohammad Mehdi Hajmohammadi, the head of Iran’s Prison Organization, says Sepideh Qolian, a detained civil activist, has been granted leave.

He announced this on Thursday, August 19, in a tweet, writing: “In recent days, many security convicts have benefited from legal privileges.”

Meanwhile, a photo of Ms. Qolian from the same day was also shared on social media networks.

According to human rights organizations’ reports, Ms. Qolian’s coronavirus test, a civil activist detained in Bushehr Prison, tested positive in the month of Mordad.

Sepideh Qolian was detained in November 2018 during protests surrounding the Haft Tappeh workers’ strike and was later released. Ms. Qolian revealed information about forced confessions and torture, which led to her re-detention.
