Three People Die from Crimean-Congo Fever in Iran

The head of the Communicable Diseases Management Center at the Ministry of Health says three people in Iran have died from Crimean-Congo fever so far.
According to Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Mahdi Goya says two of the victims died in Kermanshah and Bandar Abbas. According to him, 31 people have contracted the disease so far, and most of the infected individuals live in Iran’s eastern and western borders.
However, according to IRNA, Goya said that cases of Crimean-Congo fever in the current year are fewer than the previous year.
Abbas Abbasi, director general of the Department of Supervision of Public Health and Food Substances at Iran’s Veterinary Organization, has also asked people to purchase meat from authorized stores that carry veterinary stamps.
Crimean-Congo fever has symptoms similar to influenza along with the possibility of bleeding from various parts of the body. This disease is transmissible from animals to humans. Crimean-Congo fever was first seen in Iran in 1999.
