Trump: Every Iranian Attack Will Be Met With a Thousandfold Response

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, responding to reports of the Islamic Republic’s plans to assassinate the American ambassador in South Africa, said: “Every attack by Iran against America, in whatever form it takes, will be answered with an attack a thousand times larger on Iran.”

The U.S. President wrote on his Twitter page: “According to media reports, Iran may be planning an assassination or another attack against America in retaliation for the killing of terrorist leader Soleimani.”

According to Donald Trump, the American decision to kill Qasem Soleimani was made because of his role in planning an attack to kill American forces and the death and suffering he had caused over many years.

American publication Politico reported on Monday that U.S. government officials, citing intelligence reports, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is plotting to kill Lana Marks, the United States Ambassador to South Africa.

According to Politico, this action was designed as retaliation for the killing of Qasem Soleimani, and as one U.S. official told Politico, the Islamic Republic’s embassy in Pretoria also plays a role in this plot.

American officials told Politico that since last spring they have been aware of threats by the Islamic Republic of Iran against Lana Marks, the U.S. Ambassador to South Africa.

South Africa’s domestic security organization also responded to the report, with the organization’s spokesperson, Mawa Scott, saying that “we are engaging with all relevant partners, both within and outside the country, to ensure the security of the United States Ambassador.”

He added that the nature of the accusation and the associated threats are such that South Africa’s domestic security organization cannot currently provide more details about it.

Meanwhile, Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesperson of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rejected Politico’s report and called it “anti-Iranian accusations and lies.”

He nevertheless said that the Islamic Republic “neither forgives nor forgets” the killing of Qasem Soleimani and will “continue to pursue international legal action on this matter at all levels.”

Following the killing of Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, commander of the Kataib Hezbollah group in a U.S. drone strike, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, said “a severe revenge” awaits those who carried out the action.

Following that, the Revolutionary Guard launched a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Iraq which, due to America’s prior awareness and readiness, did not result in “serious casualties,” but in the early morning hours of that night, two air defense missiles were also fired at a Ukrainian passenger plane, causing the death of all 176 passengers on board.

Ali Khamenei on Tuesday, July 21, in a meeting with Mustafa al-Kadhimi, Prime Minister of Iraq, once again referred to the killing of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and said that the Islamic Republic “will never forget this matter and will certainly strike back against the Americans.”

The U.S. government has previously warned that any retaliatory action by Iran will result in a very severe military response from the country.
