US Sanctions Evin Prison and Head of IRIB

The United States has added six individuals and three entities related to Iran, including Evin Prison and the Ansar Hezbollah group, to its sanctions list.

The US Treasury Department announced new sanctions against Iran in a statement. According to the statement, six individuals and three entities have been added to the new Iran sanctions lists.

The US Treasury Department announced that Evin Prison, the Ansar Hezbollah group, and the “Hanista” programming group have been sanctioned. The “Hanista” group is involved in the design and development of Mobogram and Moboplus, which enable user monitoring. The Ansar Hezbollah group has been accused of involvement in “suppression and serious human rights violations.”

Abdolali Alikasgar, head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), and Hosseinollah Karam, head of the Ansar Hezbollah Coordination Council, are included in the new sanctions list.

Abdossamad Khorramabadi, secretary of the task force for determining criminal cases, and Abdolhamid Mohtashami, secretary-general of Ansar Hezbollah and editor-in-chief of Al-Thararat Al-Husayn publication, and Hamid Ostostad, Ansar Hezbollah representative in Mashhad, have also been sanctioned.

The name Abdolhassan Firuzabadi also appears on this list, which according to Iranian media reports, based on his date of birth, appears to refer to Abu Hassan Firuzabadi, secretary of the Supreme Cyberspace Council.
