Fire in Khaiz Protected Area extinguished after several days

Reports indicate that the fire in the Khaiz Protected Area, located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, has been extinguished after nearly a week, however, there are concerns that the area will flare up again.

Some journalists and environmental activists also reported on social media that the fire had subsided by midnight last night.

In recent days, several forest areas in southwestern Iran have been caught in fire. In addition to the Khaiz region, the forests of the Dale region of Gachsaran County, and forest areas in Andika, Gotvand, and Shush in Khuzestan Province have also been affected by fire.

However, it was reported that there was no firefighting equipment in the area and that local forces were trying to put out the fire with their bare hands.

However, during the fire control in this area, according to the head of the Behbahan Red Crescent, seven people, including a ranger and several residents of the area, were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to experts, the serious lack of facilities, equipment, and technology to extinguish forest fires causes serious damage and great losses to Iran's natural capital every year.
