Hundreds of artists and filmmakers express solidarity with the people of Khuzestan

A number of cultural and cinema activists, including Hossein Alizadeh, have expressed their solidarity with the people of Khuzestan in separate messages and statements and criticized the violent treatment of protesters by security forces.

Hossein Alizadeh, a renowned composer and musician, has expressed his solidarity with the people of Khuzestan in a short message written in poetry.

He wrote: “Water or blood? The warm-blooded people of Khuzestan want water, not blood!” The text continues: “Listen! The sound of Iran’s heart beats, in the soul of Iran.”

More than 330 filmmakers and cultural and art activists have also declared their solidarity with the people of Khuzestan in a short text published on social media.

The message reads: "We stand in solidarity with our compatriots from Khuzestan, who have suffered from oppression, violence, and discrimination." This message was posted on Twitter by renowned filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof.

The filmmakers have continued to criticize this message of mismanagement in the country, stating: "The bandits who have plundered the environment, resources, and culture of the Iranian people do not deserve responsibility." These filmmakers and cultural and art activists have warned that "the continuation of this situation will lead to the destruction of Iran."

Hamed Behdad, a film actor, also said, referring to the people of Khuzestan: “They are not needy or helpless. They gathered to defend their rights. To defend the rights and entitlements of all the people of Iran.” Referring to the long-standing environmental problem, Behdad said, “They gathered to make it clear that drying up the Khuzestan plain will destroy the entire Iranian plateau.”

Today, Wednesday, June 21, a group of filmmakers gathered in front of the Iranian Artists' House in Tehran and expressed their solidarity with the people of Khuzestan. Masoud Kimiaei, Navid Mohammadzadeh, Fereshteh Hosseini, Kianoush Ayari, and Sajjad Afsharian were also present in the gathering.
