Acid attack on a father and son in Shiraz

According to Fars Provincial Police, a father and son were targeted by acid attack in Shiraz on Saturday evening, July 8th.
According to Hamid Aframan, head of the Fars Police Information Center, the victims of this incident are a 42-year-old man and his 14-year-old son who were attacked by an unknown motorcyclist and suffered injuries to their faces and hands as a result of acid attacks and were taken to the hospital.
The perpetrator of this acid attack has not yet been identified, and there is no information available about the possible motives for this attack.
Acid attacks are one of the incidents that are reported from time to time in all corners of Iran. These attacks are usually not intended to kill, but rather to take revenge and destroy the victim's social life.
Various statistics have been published about acid attacks in Iran. Kamal Foroutan, chairman of the board of directors of the Association for the Support of Acid Attack Victims, announced in May 2019 that 52 or 53 people are victims of acid attacks across the country every year, with the highest figures coming from the cities of Tehran and Isfahan.
According to Mr. Forotan, based on a two-year study, 57 percent of acid attack victims were female and 43 percent were male, with an average age of 35.
In the most widespread type of acid attack in Iran, four women were victims of this type of attack in Isfahan in 2014.
Despite the fact that 8 years have passed since the acid attack on women and girls in Isfahan, law enforcement officials say that the perpetrators of this act have not been identified or introduced.
The acid attack incident in Iran is recurring despite the fact that, according to the resolution of the Iranian Parliament in 2019, "acid attack with the intention of intimidation and creating insecurity in society is considered an act of corruption on earth," and its punishment, depending on the degree of injury to the victim, can lead to retribution for the victim or for the perpetrator.
