Bisotun Petrochemical Workers Protest Non-Payment of Wages

Workers at the Bisotun petrochemical contractor in Kermanshah province have gone on a hunger strike to protest low wages, unfair working conditions, and non-payment of productivity bonuses.
The Iranian Labor News Agency, ILNA, reported on Sunday, November 10, that these workers, who work in the maintenance department, began gathering in the compound's grounds yesterday and continued their protest on Sunday.
Economic recession, bankruptcy of production units, and mismanagement have caused many workers to be deprived of their salaries and benefits, so that in recent months, cases of protest gatherings by workers have increased.
Some reports indicate that in the past year, around six thousand labor rallies have been held, mostly in protest of unpaid salaries for several months, mass layoffs, uncertainty following the transfer of factories to the private sector, and low wages.
