Nasrin Sotoudeh awarded French-German human rights award

The German ambassador to Tehran announced in a message that the joint German-French human rights award has been awarded to Nasrin Sotoudeh and that a representative has received the award on her behalf.
Michael Kloer-Berchtold, the German ambassador to Tehran, posted a message on Twitter on Monday, December 15, saying that the award was presented to Ms. Sotoudeh's representative in the presence of the French and German ambassadors to Iran.
Nasrin Sotoudeh, a lawyer, is currently in prison in Evin Prison on charges including “propaganda against the regime.” In her latest statement, Ms. Sotoudeh called for “the trial of those who ordered and committed the killing of protesters” during the November protests.
The US State Department has repeatedly and on various occasions condemned the violent confrontations and widespread repression of protesters, as well as the repeated and persistent violations of the rights of Iranian citizens by the ruling regime in that country.
