Hossein Salami, a trade union activist and teacher in Mazandaran province, was arrested after being summoned to the Sari Revolutionary Court and appearing in court.

The Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners reported on Wednesday, June 28, that Hossein Salami, a member of the Mazandaran Province Teachers' Union, was arrested and transferred to a detention center on Tuesday, June 28, after the case prosecutor issued bail for him and the family was unable to submit a property deed as bail during office hours.

According to this report, on May 13, security officers in plain clothes, after visiting Hossein Salami's home with a warrant from Branch 2 of the Sari Prosecutor's Office, searched the home of this union activist and confiscated a number of personal belongings, including a mobile phone, laptop, and computer, and summoned him to the security police for questioning.

According to available information, the interrogation was related to attending gatherings and encouraging other teachers to sit-in; this union activist was released without any bail or bail after interrogation and was informed by the relevant security agency that he must report to the relevant branch within the next week after receiving an electronic summons.

The US State Department wrote on its Persian Twitter account on Wednesday, March 5, 2018: "The world hears the voices of Iranian teachers, but Iran's leaders continue to prefer Bashar al-Assad, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis to their own people."
