Single girls trapped by surrogacy brokers

Surrogacy brokers fish out of muddy waters in crowded infertility centers and trap single girls.

The publication of news on social media about single girls being trapped in surrogacy indicates the poverty of society, which not only affects women but also single girls.

The busiest lists in infertility centers are for surrogacy. Mothers who are unable to hold a fetus in their own womb or who are unable to conceive due to illness are looking for a womb where their fetus can grow and be born so that they can experience the joy of motherhood, and for this purpose, they register with infertility centers to rent a womb.

The aforementioned lists contain the names of people who have homeless fetuses. Applicants sometimes wait more than a year from the moment they register until a surrogate womb is found. In the meantime, there are many profit-seeking individuals who, for their own benefit, create channels on social networks to act as intermediaries between applicants and surrogates.

These opportunistic practices are taking place while one of the legal conditions for surrogacy is "having at least one successful pregnancy," but brokers who are active in this field have not overlooked single girls for their own interests and offer them the opportunity to rent their wombs.

Unmarried girls in Iran, who struggle with economic problems and sometimes poverty, are among the victims of these brokers, who in many cases mortgage and rent out their wombs. One of them, after talking to an IRNA researcher, said: "I had previously filled out the relevant form as a renter, but after a short time, I was asked to fill out the form again, and then they presented me with a pregnancy concubine wrapped in a gift. Pregnancy concubine means renting out a womb, but with the difference that the parties become mahrams to each other and the amount is also agreed upon. Unfortunately, sometimes wombs are mortgaged and rented out, meaning that a certain amount is paid as an advance and another amount is paid monthly."

The spread of poverty is also one of the reasons for the spread of corruption and prostitution. Especially in cases where profiteers, for their own benefit, trap single girls in these huge sums and use them for their own benefit. Single girls who even fall into the trap of concubines under the pretext of their marriage, may also be used for other purposes.

But the government, which is one of the issuers of these licenses, does this without paying attention to single girls. Even though they know that brokers are also active in this field, they do not think of any way to support single girls. Every day, one after another falls victim to poverty, corruption, and brokers, of whom the government is not unaware.
