Rajai Shahr is still burning at a temperature of a thousand degrees.

After 24 hours, Rajai Shahr Port is still burning in the fire of explosions and temperatures of a thousand degrees.

Yesterday, Saturday, May 26, a massive explosion occurred in the Shahid Rajaee Quay Special Economic Zone in Bandar Abbas, the cause of which was reported to be unknown. The explosion caused a thick and widespread plume of smoke in the Bandar Abbas area.

Babak Yektaparest, spokesman for the Bandar Abbas emergency department, has issued a call for “all blood types, especially O negative.” The injured were taken to Shahid Mohammadi, Seyed al-Shohada, and Khatam al-Anbia hospitals in Bandar Abbas. He also stated that the Shiraz emergency departments, Jahrom air emergency departments, and Lar air emergency departments are also on standby. An emergency helicopter also flew from Larestan to provide assistance to the injured.

Hormozgan Crisis Management announced that the cause of the explosion was uncovered containers at the port. The explosion also caused severe damage to office buildings in the area, with the roof of one of the buildings collapsing on employees.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was initially minor, but due to the 40-degree temperature and the accumulation of flammable materials, the fire spread quickly and caused an explosion. Bandar Abbas Customs also announced the location of the incident as the Sina container yard in Shahid Rajaee Port, which is affiliated with the Ports and Maritime Organization.

Today, Sunday, May 27, after 24 hours, efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing. The fire department said about the operation: "Due to the contents of the containers, the fire is mixed and the extinguishing time is uncertain, and due to the very high temperature and the contents of the containers, we are extinguishing the fire with foam and powder, in addition to water. Explosions continue and some containers must burn until their contents are exhausted."

A citizen of Bandar Abbas said: "As a result of the Bandar Rajai explosion, about 23 women in our office have been killed. The blast wave severely damaged their eyes, and some other colleagues were also injured, and some of them had their limbs amputated." Also, according to the statements of "Mojtaba Ghahremani", the head of the Hormozgan provincial judiciary, the number of dead has so far exceeded 30 and 21 bodies have been handed over to the provincial forensic medicine, and the identities of 10 people have been confirmed so far.

Mohammad Reza Rezai-Kachoui, head of the parliament's civil engineering commission, said about the explosions after visiting Rajai Port: "The fire is under control, but due to the intensity of the heat, some containers explode before the flames reach them, and as a result, a new part of the port is on fire. It is estimated that more than 10,000 containers were destroyed in the fire at this port."

He criticized the lack of compliance with safety regulations and standard placement for containers, adding: "Improper arrangement and lack of proper separation between flammable and non-flammable cargo have caused the fire to spread."

The explosion was so intense that many bodies were completely burned in the surrounding cars, leaving only their bones, and some were thrown into the air during the explosion, so that their bodies have not yet been found and some are unidentifiable. The pollution from this explosion is also so high that all schools, universities and offices have been declared closed for the day.
