During 2019, domestic violence topped the social emergency reports in Isfahan province.

The expert in charge of the Social Welfare Emergency in Isfahan Province said that the most reported cases in 2019 were domestic violence, of which spousal abuse has increased significantly, while child abuse has increased by about 27 percent and elder abuse by 20 percent. He cited economic problems as one of the factors behind the increase in domestic violence.
According to HRANA news agency, quoting IMNA, the expert in charge of the Social Welfare Emergency in Isfahan province said: "The most reports received in 2020 involved domestic violence."
Afsaneh Mirzaian stated: During this period, spousal abuse has increased significantly, as well as child abuse by about 27 percent, elder abuse by 20 percent, and other violence by 18 percent, with the largest increase related to spousal abuse.
He stated that last year, approximately 23,552 phone calls were made to the social emergency line 123, adding: "Given the Corona situation that has arisen since 2019, problems have been created for the economic market due to the quarantine, and many businesses are not operating as before, which has led to increased disputes within families. For these reasons, calls have increased compared to last year, and the level of violence has also increased."
