Reverend Dr. Edward Hosepianmehr, Prominent Servant of the Iranian Church, Passes to Heaven

The Persian-speaking Christian community announced with deep sorrow the passing of Dr. Edward Hosepianmehr, one of the most recognized leaders and teachers of the Iranian Church. He devoted decades of his life to proclaiming the Gospel, teaching God’s Word, training church leaders, and serving Iranian Christians and Iranian diaspora communities. His name remains a symbol of faith, perseverance, and unwavering service to the Lord for generations of Persian-speaking Christians.
Reverend Dr. Edward Hosepianmehr entered Christian ministry from his youth and spent years in pastoral care and teaching at the Jama’at Rabbani churches in Iran. He served in various Iranian cities, and many church servants and leaders were among his disciples and colleagues. After his migration to Britain, his ministry not only continued but expanded in scope, making him one of the most influential figures in the Persian-speaking church in Europe.
He led the Iranian Church in London for many years and through conferences, television programs, biblical teachings, and weekly messages, served thousands of Persian speakers in various parts of the world. His messages consistently emphasized hope in Christ, living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, perseverance through hardships, and faithfulness to God’s Word.
Reverend Edward Hosepianmehr’s name is also bound to one of the most important chapters in the history of the contemporary Iranian Church. He was the brother of the late Bishop Haik Hosepianmehr, a prominent leader of the Iranian Church who in 1994, after defending religious freedom and advocating for the freedom of Reverend Mehdi Dibaj, was kidnapped and murdered. His name is recorded in the history of the Iranian Church as one of the most prominent martyrs of faith. After that painful event, Reverend Edward, despite the sorrow of losing his brother, continued his ministry with the same commitment and faith, becoming a symbol of steadfastness and faithfulness to Christ.
Throughout decades of ministry, Reverend Hosepianmehr was not only a shepherd to thousands of believers but also played an important role in shaping, strengthening, and supporting Persian-speaking churches in Europe and other parts of the world. Many church leaders knew him as a humble teacher, a spiritual father, and a compassionate counselor who constantly encouraged young servants to sincere service and faithfulness to the Gospel.
The passing of Reverend Dr. Edward Hosepianmehr is considered a great loss for the Iranian Church and the Persian-speaking Christian community. His legacy, however, will not remain only in the memory of his disciples and colleagues, but will continue in the lives of thousands of believers who were blessed by his teaching, prayers, pastoral care, and love.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
The Persian-speaking Christian community, while expressing sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of this faithful servant, extends the Lord’s peace and consolation to them during these days of mourning and honors the memory of his decades of service.
