Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi, another signatory of Khamenei's resignation statement, arrested

Following the arrest of some signatories of the statement calling for the resignation of the Leader of the Islamic Republic, this time reports indicate the arrest of "Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi," another of these signatories.

The official Telegram channel of 14 civil and political activists inside Iran confirmed this news and wrote that security agents arrived at the home of "Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi," one of the signatories of the so-called 14-person statement, on Sunday evening, "beating him in front of his family," and arrested Mr. Shahroudi and transferred him to an unknown location.

Reza Mehregan, another signatory of the letter calling for Ayatollah Khamenei's resignation, also wrote on his Twitter account that he was transferred to "Mashhad Information" after his arrest.

Not long ago, a group of political activists who had gathered in front of the Mashhad Justice Department to protest the 13-year prison sentence for Kamal Jafari Yazdi, one of the signatories of Khamenei's resignation statement, were arrested by police and security forces.

Huriyeh Farajzadeh, Javad Lal Mohammadi, Mohammad Hossein Sepehri and Abdolrasoul Mortazavi, Fatemeh Sepehri, Pouran Nazemi, Hashem Khastar and Mohammad Nourizad are among the detained individuals who had previously signed a 14-person statement calling for Khamenei's resignation, and some of them had previously received death threats.

The US State Department says that the Iranian regime has arrested thousands of protesters, civil activists, and representatives of workers and other trade unions in the last two years.

In Iran, any criticism of the leader of the Islamic Republic is punished with severe punishment.

The treatment of the authors of the letter calling for Khamenei's resignation comes a few weeks after the letter was signed, while Reza Mehregan, one of its signatories, posted a video on social media announcing that he had been attacked and beaten with a taser by unknown individuals.
