Power outage in dozens of Iran's "sensitive centers" during a military exercise

Electricity was cut off for a few minutes at 11 "sensitive" centers in Tehran on Sunday, November 3, during the "eighth power outage drill."

According to the Passive Defense Organization report, the electricity of the National Iranian Gas Company, the metro traffic system, the Refining and Distribution Dispatching (the country's fuel system), the Jalalieh Water Treatment Center, the Tehran Municipality Crisis Management Organization, the Greater Tehran Power Distribution Company, the Imam Khomeini Microwave, the Passive Defense Organization, the traffic and traffic system, and the Central Bank's data center were cut off for a few minutes.

According to this report, a power outage maneuver was carried out in all provinces of the country.

However, the report does not mention the number of centers that have had their electricity cut off in other provinces of the country.

However, Iranian news agencies have published reports of power outages in a number of "sensitive" centers in other provinces of the country.

According to IRNA news agency, during this exercise, electricity was cut off at 14 sensitive points in Mashhad city.

The report published in Iranian media did not mention the reason for the exercise. Power outage drills are usually conducted to prepare for war situations.

Iran's Passive Defense Organization has announced the holding of the "eighth power outage exercise" while not providing information about previous exercises.

Gholamreza Jalali, head of the country's Passive Defense Organization, also said during the exercise that government institutions must have electricity generators.

Internet shutdown maneuvers have been held before.

In this context, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, announced on May 19 that 142 tests would be held with the aim of "verifying the independence of the National Information Network in the event of an internet outage."

Mohammad Reza Farajipour, deputy head of the Passive Defense Organization's cyber headquarters, said on Saturday that the "internet shutdown drill" was carried out on the orders of President Hassan Rouhani.
