According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Maryam Karim Beigi, the sister of Mustafa Karim Beigi, one of the victims of the 2009 protests, was arrested.
Shahnaz Ekmali, the mother of Ms. Karim Beigi, announced in a post on her personal page that her daughter was arrested by security forces at 7 a.m. today. In the video, she says that the officers searched their home at the same time as they arrested her daughter.

HRANA had previously reported on April 11 of this year that Maryam Karim Beigi had been banned from studying at the university. She had been summoned to the university in a phone call to determine the status of her ban.
Previously, on March 2, 2019, the homes of Ms. Karim Beigi and her mother, Shahnaz Akmal, were searched by security forces, and a number of their personal belongings, including cell phones, electronic devices, and all the images of those killed in the 2009 protests, were confiscated. The officers also summoned Maryam Karim Beigi. On March 29, she appeared at the Ministry of Intelligence’s follow-up office and was interrogated.
Shahnaz Akmal, the mother of Mustafa Karim Beigi, is one of the victims of the protests of January 29, 2009. She has a history of being arrested and imprisoned for her civil and legal activities.
