The government's resolution regarding a 10% increase in workers' salaries was annulled.

The secretary of the Social Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly announced the cancellation of the government's resolution regarding a 10 percent increase in the salaries of workers who are under contract with the government, saying: "Accordingly, the salaries of all workers who are under contract with the government will be applied based on the labor law."

Thus, the salaries of workers under contract with the government will increase by 57%.

Kiyomars Sarmadi Vale told ISNA news agency on Sunday, June 10: "Based on the labor law, 57 percent of salaries were increased, but the salaries of those earning the minimum wage increased significantly to five million and 700 thousand tomans, and the rest are also included in this increase."

The government's resolution regarding a 10 percent increase in the salaries of workers under contract with the government came at a time when, even according to official statistics, inflation last year was more than 40 percent, and the rate of price growth this year is even higher than last year.

In recent weeks, there have been widespread nationwide protests by workers, teachers, and retirees against poverty, inflation, and low wages and salaries, which have been met with widespread repression by security forces.

Mr. Sarmadi Vale continued by saying that according to the labor law, their salaries should have been increased, but the government violated this and increased the workers' salaries by 10 percent. The parliament intervened in this issue, and the Law Enforcement Board invalidated this government resolution.
